Soizick Hébert is a multi talented and eccentric artist: part clown, musician, singer and comic she has entertained crowds internationally for over 30 years.  Daughter of a cook/cameraman and of a music teacher/film-extra, Soizick was born and raised in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, a rural countryside.  Her artistically inclined parents brought her up in a creative environment and at school she was involved in all theatrical activities.

This self-learned juggler, piano and ukulele player and composer moved to Vancouver British Columbia for six months in order to meet buskers and circus artists to improve on her performing skills.  Back in Montreal with her own street animation she performed in festivals throughout the Province of Québec.  In the 80’s she partnered with Johnny Filion to create the hilarious duo “Les Voilà!”, the duo performed over 6000 shows around the world for 22 years.  In the late 90’s, their act performed with the Cirque du Soleil in Dralion and with the Cirque Éloize in Excentricus.

As a solo artist she played in various theaters worldwide combining to her performance, clowning, music, juggling, acting and serving tables.  From 2001 to 2004 while working with Teatro ZinZanni under the Spiegeltent in San Francisco and Seattle, she perfected her zany performance of Mme Soiz.  Her other credits include the creation of the show Orchestra Nova and various trios and duos with her two characters; performances in cabarets such as Luna Variety (Dortmund), le Lion D’or (Montréal); international events (Vancouver, Brisbane, Festival Juste pour rire, Montreal); for circuses (Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloize, Cirque du Tonnerre); for television (La vie est un Cirque, Cirquissimo, Barney), for dinner theatres Teatro Zinzanni (San Francisco, Seattle), le Baron Fou (Montréal); and in Gannymée on Water in Koln, Germany.

The diversity and type of shows in which she has been involved over the years have given her a unique capacity of adaptation and a vast array of acting experiences.  For this reason individuals, creative companies and schools worldwide call upon her expertise as acting and clowning coach.  She also teaches regularly at the prestigious École de Cirque de Québec.  As one of Québec’s first and most important women clown, her work is mentioned in the Anthology of Clowning written by Yves Dagenais, the book will be available at the end of the 2009.
